Palaka was popular among Japanese immigrants living in Hawaii in the early 20th century because of its similarity to Japanese kasuri.
It has been faithfully reproduced using the same uneven yarn dyeing technique as back then, and soft processing has also been researched.
PC Standard is locally known as "Hawaiian denim."
